No dogs are allowed on the Hazelwood Grounds

What do I need to bring?

All rugby is played outdoors and subject to the elements therefore all players need rugby/football boots, extra layers (it can get cold), playing gloves, a named drinks bottle (is essential) and a healthy snack. For players U9 and above a mouth guard is compulsory.

What age group will I be in?

Age Group is determined by the Players age on the 1st of September. Age Group has been equated to School Year, with Under 6’s being Year 1, Under 7s being Year 2, etc.

Do we have to join at the beginning of the season?

No we suggest trying for 3/4 weeks to see if rugby is for you and your son / daughter. However we do ask you to kindly register before you come down if you can? In order to play in matches your child should be registered with the RFU which we will arrange at no additional cost to yourself.

How can I join?

Players can join LIARFC at anytime. A telephone call or email to the age group team administrator or head coach, will establish whether or not an age group is at home that Sunday. If so we’d love to see you.

What kit is needed?

The club has a bespoke kit available through the club shop. Players will be required to purchase club kit to take part in matches.

The club colours consists of a green shirt, white shorts and green socks.

What if we can’t make it every week?

Teams manage fixtures and availability using Pitchero, where you can let the coaching staff know your intentions. If you are not registered coaches would appreciate an email or call just letting them know so they can plan the coming Sunday.

Do you play if it is raining?

Yes, so please be prepared for the elements, warm clothing for children and waterproofs for adults. We try and only cancel matches when the pitches are flooded, there is snow or they are frozen due to a frost. The club will try and give as much notice as possible via social media and the club website.

Will we need to travel to other clubs and do we have to go?

We travel to a number of other clubs to play in matches and tournaments throughout the season. It is recommended that players go to as many as possible as this benefits the child. You get to see how other clubs are run, meet and play against other teams and learn how other coaches’ train. It is also a good way for teams to bond.

What level of commitment am I expected to give as a parent?

You will be asked to assist with some small jobs such as car park duty. This occurs approximately 2 times a season on the same morning as training. The club is run by volunteers and we always need helpers either in your child’s age group or to help run the club in many other ways. We encourage all members to become involved in the club if possible, to create the best club for your child.
