John was a fearless wing forward, and as was tradition in those days, played both sides of the scrum with equal flair. He was Club Captain in the 1964-5 season and was awarded an Honours Tie with the Wild Geese in his first season 1959-60.
John continued to play rugby in Canada with the Toronto Irish Club and Hamilton Hornets and was awarded an international cap in 1967 for Canada against England.
John was a lifelong supporter and follower of London Irish and always spoke with affection of his time playing with the club. He will be greatly missed by his extended family in Canada and Ireland and all of us at London Irish send them our sincere condolences.
