For those less familiar with London Irish Amateur RFC, a quick summary of our club and senior teams.

Who are London Irish Amateur Rugby Football Club (LIARFC)?

Based at the Hazelwood Centre, Sunbury on Thames, LIARFC are a community rugby club offering vets, senior, youth and mini rugby for boys, girls, men and women. Today we are nearly a 1000 members, run by club volunteers for the membership.

What is the relationship to London Irish Rugby Football Club?

With the onset of professional rugby in 1996, an agreement was formalised for the amalgamation of the remaining London Irish adult/junior sides and youth/mini sections into a one club organisation. In 1999 London Irish Amateur Rugby Football Club (Company number 07128849) was incorporated to facilitate this amalgamation.

London Irish Amateur had no organisational or financial connection to London Irish Scottish Richmond Ltd (The pros). However we share the same heritage and co-operated on a number of topics of interest.

Who are the London Irish Wild Geese?

The London Irish Wild Geese will compete in Regional 2 South Central in season 2023/2024 (Level 6). In 1951, the club christened its 2nd XV The Wild Geese. The term Wild Geese is used in Irish history to refer to Irish soldiers who left to serve in continental European armies in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Today the Wild Geese are the senior XV of LIARFC.

Home fixtures are played at Hazelwood Drive, Sunbury on Thames, TW16 6QU, Saturday afternoons, typically 3pm (please check ahead of time) and entry is free. However we do run a discretionary match day raffle to help with running of the team. Typically a lunch is held prior to the fixture, all are welcome, but booking in advance is essential.

Home fixtures are played at Hazelwood Drive, Sunbury on Thames, TW16 6QU, Sunday afternoons, typically 2pm (please check ahead of time) and entry is free. However we may do some discretionary fundraising on the day to help with running of the team.

How do I get involved with LIARFC?

There are many ways you can join our journey. As a player, parent, carer or grandparent you can purchase one of our many playing membership packages which ever best suits you and your family (Click here). As a former player, supporter or friend we have general and overseas membership (Click here). All members make a vital financial, voluntary and cultural contribution to the running of the club.

You can also follow any of our teams both home and away by following the weekly fixtures. You'd be made very welcome on the touch line and in the bar after the game.

What else is needed?

As a members club we only function due to the hard work of our volunteers who facilitate both rugby and our social calendar. We always have opportunities for coaches, first aid, child/adult protection, marketing, social media, retail and many other roles. These are fun, rewarding and typically require only a couple of hours a week. We will offer support for all roles (Click here).

Running a large rugby club has many financial demands, so we are extremely grateful to all our sponsors and fundraisers. If you can see the value our brand could bring to your organisation, please contact us we'd love to hear from you (Click here).

I followed London Irish, but I have my own community rugby club?

As a community club we treasure our sporting rivalries and friendships, many forged over a century of competition. Therefore if LIARFC come to your club, don your London Irish shirt (for nostalgia), cheer your club team and lets enjoy (reminisce) in each others company in the true social sense of the great game of rugby. Make the away fixture at Hazelwood and you'll receive a warm welcome (Click here).

You are also welcome to rent any of the facilities at Hazelwood or join us for one of our many social events. Just speak to the Hazelwood team (Click here).
