London Irish has learned with regret of the death of its former player and supporter Frank O'Neill after a short illness that included Covid-19.
A reliable and enthusiastic member of a range of teams throughout the 1970s, Frank brought his passion for the game not only to the matches he played for the A2s or the wanderers on the pitches at The Avenue but also to rugby grounds across the capital. He was awarded his honours tie for his performance for the A2s in the 1972/73 season.
Popular off the pitch as well as on it, Frank always made his presence felt in the top bar of the stand at The Avenue where his fine voice featured in many post-match singing sessions.
In recent years, Frank lived in Oxfordshire where he ran a pub in the village of Stratton Audley.
London Irish extends its sincere sympathy to his daughters Caroline and Christine, grandchildren Rhys and Ava, brothers John and Finbarr, nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
