Wild Geese v Henley: Preview

This Saturday, 8th April, the Wild Geese face Henley at Hazelwood in National League 2 South: kick-off 3.00 pm. After last week’s result, it would be stating the obvious to say that this is another ‘must win’ game. The facts of the matter are that the Wild Geese can stay in National 2 South but, to do so, they must obtain maximum points on Saturday to start with. They will then have to live in hope that Barnstaple’s remaining fixtures are winless, which is realistic if you look at their three remaining games. Bonus points of any description from the remaining two fixtures would be a help but a win on Saturday is a sine qua non.

Henley might have something to say about the above and their recent form suggests a difficult game for the Wild Geese. On the other hand, Henley are comfortably in mid-table and have, in effect, nothing to play for. To strike a note of further optimism, the Wild Geese just lost by 1 point (25-24) when visiting Henley in December.

After last week’s good turn-out, your support on Saturday will not only be very welcome but is much needed. Come along before Easter and egg them on!
