Wild Geese v Clifton: Preview

The Wild Geese have the possibility of a relative break in their “toughest five consecutive Saturdays of the season” on Saturday coming, 18th February, when they take on Clifton at Hazelwood in the RFU National League 2 South, with a scheduled kick-off time of 3.00 pm.

Preview from John S Hunter

Clifton have slipped into the bottom half of the league table, although we must remember that they comfortably defeated the Wild Geese in the league game at Bristol in October; they also probably have the biggest pack of forwards in the league. However, if the Wild Geese can continue to show the same team spirit and determination that they have in recent games – home and away – then the home venue may give them the advantage; against that must be set the absence of leading try-scorer George Owen – pre-match predictions are evenly balanced.

Your support at Hazelwood, in what could be crucial in helping the Wild Geese gain more than bonus points, will be very welcome as ever.

The probable Wild Geese team (awaiting fitness tests) shows some changes – personnel and positional – and will be: K O’Sullivan, K Gibson, C Connor; C Haggett, S Moore (Capt.); H Rowland, T Bush, C O’Duffy; D Grant-Anderson, P Hodgkinson; M Killeen, S Cunningham, B Meeson, O Turner; B Kitching. The replacements will be from E Atkinson, D Livett, G Drye, J Touma, T Richards & J Cooke.
