The Wild Geese did not disappoint the number of Past Players attending for their annual pre-match lunch, in disposing of Gravesend by 24 points to 7, at home, in their first National League 3 fixture of the new year.
The Wild Geese showed that they meant business with a try by Tom Barker in 4 minutes, converted by Ollie Turner. They added to this with a try by Matt Cornish after 11 minutes, again converted by Ollie Turner. A further first half try was added after 18 minutes by Jordan Gott. The rest of the game was more of an even contest. Tom Richards scored a try after 66 minutes, converted by Ollie Turner. Gravesend gained some consolation with a converted try from a driving maul.
The Wild Geese remain in second place in the league table as Tonbridge Juddians won by almost the same score (26-6 in their case) on the same afternoon. However, the portents suggest that the battle for the league title will go down to the wire.
