The Bs are a Vets team made up of players “downsizing” from other London Irish sides plus a generous sprinkling of rugby waifs and strays from other clubs. They play a mixture of friendlies and Vets league games, combining competitive rugby with a healthy dose of fun.

The Team also like to travel. Twice a year, a mixture of players, ex-players and a growing band of alickadoos bring their own brand of rugby and entertainment to foreign shores. The overnight “Raid” takes place mid-season while a longer “Tour” is organised for the end of the season.

The Bs origins date back to the mid-70s when a certain Des Egan was asked to put together a side for the club’s older players. Des “Lord” Egan, as he was often addressed, was better known for his storytelling than his rugby prowess and recalled that he wanted a rugby side that would attract “singers”, “heads” and “entertainers”. He seems to have stumbled on a winning formula as over 40 years later the Bs are as strong as ever.
