LIARFC U12s Cs played a in a tough tournament at Richmond against the Drifters, London French, Amersham + Chiltern and Richmond. On a bitterly cold morning, the boys needed a good warm up ahead of the first vital game against the unknown Drifters which was eventually won by a single try to Nil by Irish. This success was quickly followed by another against the hosts Richmond as Irish ran in 3 unanswered tries and showed great defence to keep a strong record of 2 wins and no tries conceded.

Amersham looked to present a stiffer challenge and they ended the day as the highest try scorers of the tournament albeit they did not cross the Irish try-line and whilst our boys were camped out in their ’22’ for most of the match, Amersham proved defensively matched to our lads and the game ended a draw at 0-0, the score not really highlighting the good rugby from both sides.

Irish’s final game was against Les Bleus of London French which again proved an entertaining match with plenty of ‘ball-in-hand’ play and continental flair matched with big tackles and line-breaks. In the end Irish ran out victors at 2-0 with a balance of equal flair and resolute defence.

4 games, 3 wins, 1 draw. No tries conceded. LIARFC were Tournament winners at U12.

Well played lads
