London Irish Wild Geese 60, Wimbledon 6

This weekend the Geese took on Wimbledon at home at Hazelwood. The Geese went looking to climb up the table with their third win of the season against the bottom of the table side.

The match started off a bit out of sorts with the Geese conceding 4 penalties after on 5 minutes resulting in the visitors taking a 6-point lead. However, the Geese soon found their feet with a hat trick of tries in the first half by left wing George Owen continuing his try scoring form. Outhalf Alex Seers added to the Geese lead with a penalty and converting one of the three first half tries, to end the half with the Geese in the driving seat at 20 points to 6.

The Geese began the second half the same way they finished the first with an early try by right wing Reon Joseph after only 2 mins gone. This started an unstoppable run of tries by the Geese, scored by scrumhalf Tom Barker (1), fullback Peter Hodgekinson (2), left wing George Owen (4: 3 1st half, 1 2nd half), and the last scored by centre Charlie Broughton (1). Seers and Hodgekinson shared the converting responsibilities, converting 4 of the 6 second half tries, ending an excellent performance by the Geese especially in defence, with no tries conceded at 60-6.
