London Irish Wild Geese 0, Broadstreet RFC 34

This weekend, the Wild Geese looked to avenge a haunting loss from early in the season to bottom of the league Broadstreet. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst result of the year so far. The Geese being hit with numerous injuries to key players in the win away to Chinnor, such as top try scorers George Owen and Reon Joseph, backrow Pat White, and club captain Scott Moore, had already made selection difficult.

To add to the drama, starting scrumhalf Chico U’Chong was forced to pull out of the match having failed to pass fit on the day causing fullback Peter Hodgekinson to slot in at nine.

The game started off well for the first 5 mins or so as the Geese looked to shock Broadstreet from the get go, but the visitors held firm to hold the initial assault from the home side. Some aimless kicks and most frustratingly lost lineouts gave possession back repeatedly to the visitors allowing them to touch down three times in the first half with two converted and a penalty to add to their tally ending the half at 0-22.
The second half saw the Geese try everything to get on the board but from a culmination of unforced errors, failed set pieces and silly penalties gave possession back to Broadstreet and like in the first half they converted it into points in the form of two more tries.

This was by far the worst result this season, as it was not only a loss by a home five-point loss with nothing to show for it as the game ended London Irish Wild Geese 0 – 34 Broadstreet RFC.
