Barnstaple 15, London Irish Wild Geese 6

This weekend the Wild Geese were away to Barnstaple in the wind and rain. The Geese had two 2017/2018 debutants on the bench in the forms of Tight-Head Henry Paul and Hooker Karl “Gippa” Gibson. The Geese looked to claim their third win of the season, but with the extremely tough weather conditions and the well executed game plan by the hosts.

The Geese managed to take the lead after 13 mins from the boot of Outhalf Alex Seers putting the Geese 3 points up. However, minutes later, the host bundled over after a number of phases to score their first try and take the lead 5-3. The hosts managed to control possession for the majority of the first half, even with the wind and rain going against them, but Seers again added another 3 points having missed two other penalties, to put the Geese a point in front going into the break.

The second half became a battle more with the elements along with the opposition who again controlled the majority of possession and holding the Geese scoreless for the second half. Barnstaple managed to capitalise on their possession control, adding another penalty and a converted try to their tally ending the game 15-6.
