An injury ravaged squad fought bravely against a strong Guildford in their first ever Surrey league match at the impressive Surrey Sports ground in Guildford.

Despite conceding two early tries London Irish fought back from a slow start with a well-worked try out wide for ‘Nashy’. Led ably by ‘Finners’ and with a strong wind in their backs in the first half Irish tested the Guildford defence with some good probing kicks by fly-half Ollie Jones, one of which led to Nashy’s try. A try in the last minute of the first half by Guildford put them ahead 19 – 5 at the break.

Irish faced a string wind in the first half and worked the ball upfield patiently putting a lot of pressure on Guildford who did well to keep their line intact. The strong wind eventually took its toll and a few well-taken clearances fromGuildford allowed them to clear the ball and in the last few minutes score a few well-earned tries to finish 33 – 5 winners.
