Sunday 4th October saw London Irish Girls travel to Cobham for their first ever fixture. For the U15/U18 this was a cluster game with Cobham v Camberley, and for our U13s they were a pure London Irish side v Camberley.

U13s and U18s kicked off at the same time. Our U18s were standing alongside some seasoned contact players – to say they did not look out of place would be an understatement. What they lacked in experience they made up for with attitude, heart and work rate.

The U13s took to contact with vigour. They relentlessly worked hard and showed signs of a strong squad in the making. Matching the opposition try for try in each quarter, they worked hard for the team and each other.

The U15 game was a pleasure to watch, the first full contact game for the majority of the London Irish girls, and they thrived! Some determined defence and some big runs made for an exciting end-to-end game.

The coaches and the management were enthused by the commitment and attitude of the girls after only four weeks of training for some. This start bodes well for the future of the girls section.
